The story

The only core that does not burn. That is not a marketing claim — it is physics.

Mineral wool is made from rock or slag fibres formed at temperatures above 1400°C. A material created in a furnace does not catch fire — it is chemically incapable of contributing to combustion. This is what Class A1 non-combustible certification means in practice: in a fully developed room fire, a mineral wool core panel will not add fuel, will not produce burning droplets, and will not generate the toxic smoke that causes most fire deaths. For hospitals, data centres, and high-occupancy commercial buildings where insurers and building control officers require non-combustible envelopes, there is no substitute. The trade-off is thermal performance — mineral wool conducts heat more readily than PIR. Royal Havilah offsets this with tighter density specification and precision-bonded facings that hold the fibre matrix under long-term load.
